Zach Deputy to Perform @ Culture Room

Folks in South Florida are in for a musical treat on February 10. One-man-band and bearer of good vibes, Zach Deputy, will be performing at the Culture Room in Ft. Lauderdale.

If feeling good made a sound, it would sound like Zach’s music. His lyrics preach peace, love and brotherhood. He has the exceptional ability to fill a room (or lot, or any type of space) with positivity. His technical ability on the acoustic guitar is a force to be reckoned with and his soulful voice can also drop nasty freestyles.  But what’s really impressive is how he makes his live sound all by himself.

Zach Deputy’s approach to performing his music live involves an intricate system of microphones and loop stations. He plays each component of the song, looping them one atop the other. For drums and percussion, he beat-boxes into a mic. Then, for vocals, he has microphones set up that harmonize what he sings.

While there are others who take the live-looping approach to performing, Zach Deputy pushes the envelope. The result a larger-than-life sound resembling a full band backed by a choir of singers, only it’s just one man. It’s just Zach.

So if you have nothing to do Thursday night, take advantage of the opportunity and catch his set. The man is a touring machine, so he’ll certainly be back in Florida sometime this year (hint: he’s a Bear Creek golden boy), but why wait when he’s here now?

Tickets are $9.95 on Ticketmaster, so expect to pay a little less at the door.

About clazaga5

I am a music writer. I graduated from FIU's School of Journalism and Mass Communications in April, 2011. I've always had a passion for music. Since high school, I've been involved in a few bands and written a good number of original songs. I loved going to shows and seeing live music. So when the notion struck me to combine the two, it seemed only logical that I write about live music when and wherever I find it. This blog is what came of that notion.
