All Quiet in the Southern Swamp: Swamp Stomp Cancelled for 2011

One of Miami’s fastest growing indie festivals, the Swamp Stomp, has been cancelled this year.

Festival founder, Ryan Gregg, cited unforeseen circumstances as the reason for nixing the festival for 2011. “…this year’s festival would not be up to the standards of past years,” Gregg wrote in a post to Swamp Stomp’s website, announcing the news. However, he also stated that the festival was simply taking a year off.

“And hear me, fellow Swamp Stompers; we will return,” said Gregg.

The festival humbly began in 2007 and since has grown every year. Traditionally made up of homegrown musical acts, last year’s Swamp Stomp featured The Lee Boys, Artofficial, Rachel Goodrich, Jahfe and Juke.

In happier, albeit less relevant festival news…

California’s High Sierra Music Festival released its initial lineup, which includes My Morning Jacket, Ween, Yonder Mountain String Band, Warren Haynes Band and Ivan Neville’s Dumpstaphunk. To view the full initial lineup, click here.

About clazaga5

I am a music writer. I graduated from FIU's School of Journalism and Mass Communications in April, 2011. I've always had a passion for music. Since high school, I've been involved in a few bands and written a good number of original songs. I loved going to shows and seeing live music. So when the notion struck me to combine the two, it seemed only logical that I write about live music when and wherever I find it. This blog is what came of that notion.
